It was a tiring and hungry morning as Junction City High School woke up to eat breakfast at 7 am. After breakfast there was an hour of preparation to dress in band uniforms and leave to South San Antonio High School to practice and perform our field show to audition for pregame at the Alamo Bowl. The practice at San Antonio High School was a mixture of confusion and excitement to perform and the last time the band practiced together was a month ago. With cold fingers and anticipation the Junction City High School band performed their JC Straight Ahead show to the judges. There were a total of thirteen competing bands that all had one goal; to win the band competition to perform at the Alamo Bowl. After our performance the band went to Incredible Pizza to relax and play games. Afterwards we had two hour to prepare for the banquet where our placing would be announced. The banquet was at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center at the River Walk. At the banquet all thirteen competing bands attended, dinner was provided and the winners were announced. With hard work and effort Junction City placed in second place within thirteen of the bands. The evening was bittersweet with disappointment, however, the evening was filled with laughter and dancing. Congratulations to Seaman High School for winning the competition and having the opportunity to perform at the Alamo Bowl.
