Senior Makayla Cole was awarded the chance of a lifetime to show off her talents in New York.  She preformed with 47 students across the nation at Carnegie Hall. The excitement she felt upon being notified was very surreal.

“I’m excited, the feeling still hasn’t sunken in of ‘oh my gosh I did this!’ I’m sure all the emotions will come rushing to me when I’m on the airplane heading straight there,” said Cole upon learning of the prestigious honor.

The group rehearsed from February 3rd to the 7th and performed live on Feb. 6th. Cole confirmed that over hundreds applied for The Honors Performance Series Concert Choir and only a 3rd was accepted. With hard work and over a year of practicing her solo for her rehearsal, it all finally came together.

“I’m proud and happy that I actually have talent to accomplish something so grand. I’ve taken my musicianship and abilities for granted most of my life so seeing that I was chosen over hundreds of other people is shocking,” said Cole, who was excited not only for her chance to perform at Carnegie but to also having the ability to see the Big Apple and tour New York City.
