The Blue Jays sent nine members of the varsity wrestling team to the state wrestling tournament in Park City Friday and Saturday.

Max Bazan, Downey Wood, Jeryl Denton, Jake Bazan, Gabe Padilla, Xavier DeGuzman, Tanner Bogenhagen, Aryus Jones, and J’Quan Robinson were the Blue Jay Wrestlers that competed.

The Junction City Blue Jay wrestling team went into the state tournament ranked 5th in the state. They recently were the centennial league champions.

Six of the nine members sent to the tournament placed. Jeryl Denton, Jake Bazan, Aryus Jones, Downey Wood, J’Quan Robinson and Gabe Padilla placed at  the tournament that took place Friday February 27th and Saturday February 28th,

Jeryl Denton placed 2nd at state, wrestling 152lbs. Jake Bazan also placed 2nd  at state, wrestling 145 lbs.  Aryus Jones placed 3rd place at state, wrestling 160lbs. Downey Wood placed 4th at state, wrestling 138lbs. J’Quan Robinson finished 6th at state, wrestling 182 lbs. Gabe Padilla placed 5th at state, wrestling 126 lbs.
