Junction City High just had their first home soccer game of the season last Thursday.

All the confidence was up while preparing for the big game. “I feel good, I’m ready to play the first game on the new turf” said Ford Harter “I think we’ll show that JCHS ain’t a joke”. Varsity soccer felt great while warming up, and they were prepared to bring their skill to the table.

The first goal of the night was made by number 6, Junior Moore with a header. The Blue Jays were ecstatic, and that’s when the game really began. From that first score, the game just got more competitive from there on out.

The Blue Jays scored another goal at the 34 minute mark, but so did Highland Park with penalty kick; leaving the game at 2-1.

As the tension builds, and time runs out, it got harder and harder for the Jays to keep their heads up, and remain with that same confidence they had before the game.

With one minute remaining of the game Highland Park made a miracle goal, leaving the game tied 2-2, thus making the game go into overtime.

The Blue Jays end up losing the game 2-3 with lots of tension on the field, and although it was a tough loss; they still left as a united team. “I just hope we get together as a family, and improve” said Jimmy Lechuga “I just want to see this team be successful, and move along as a family”.
