It’s a new year which means it’s time for new experiences. Try out new sports/clubs, make new friends, try out different classes, but most importantly spend your time wisely and take time to enjoy high school. Here are some seniors with advice and tips to make the best of this year.
How to enjoy High School and make the most of it?
So, how do you make the most of high school?
First, you enjoy the little things even if they seem stupid or insignificant, enjoy those little conversations, or that one science class, enjoy the little jokes, and all the homework you’re assigned, because one day you’ll wake up and miss it all, even if you don’t think you will.
Second, don’t waste your time on negative things or drama; that stuff will not matter in the future. Hate and drama take a lot more energy then just moving on and ignoring the situation. You will also just feel a lot lighter and happier.
Third, go out and experience different things. Join a new club or try a new sport, the worst thing that could happen is you don’t enjoy it. Don’t hold back or be shy to do things you are interested in because trust you will regret not doing more, or if none of that is your thing participate at games, go to dances, pep rallies, etc..
In conclusion, don’t hesitate to do the things you want to do, and enjoy it while it lasts.
What do you regret not doing in high school?
“I regret giving up sophomore year,” said senior Abree Herrington.
“Not joining more clubs and not being very involved,” said senior Shayne Martin.
Senior Mayra Sosa regrets “not getting into sports,” whereas senior Abad Ruiz regrets “not attending school events.”
How to get good grades and stay on top of schoolwork? Why are my grades so important?
Getting good grades and staying on top of schoolwork can be challenging but there are strategies that will help.
- Organize Your Schedule: Use a planner or digital calendar to keep track of assignments, exams, and deadlines. Break larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps and set deadlines for each.
- Prioritize Tasks: Identify the most important and urgent tasks and tackle those first. This helps ensure that critical deadlines are met and reduces last-minute stress.
- Develop a Routine: Establish a consistent study routine. Set aside specific times each day for studying and stick to it. This helps build good habits and makes studying a regular part of your day.
- Stay Engaged in Class: Actively participate in class, take thorough notes, and ask questions when you’re unsure about something. Engaged learning often translates into better understanding and retention of the material.
- Use Effective Study Techniques: Find study methods that work best for you, whether that’s summarizing notes, using flashcards, or teaching the material to someone else. Active learning techniques tend to be more effective than passive ones.
- Take Care of Yourself: Ensure you get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise regularly. Your physical well-being significantly affects your cognitive functions and overall academic performance.
- Seek Help When Needed: Don’t hesitate to ask for help from teachers, tutors, or classmates if you’re struggling with certain topics. Joining study groups can also be beneficial.
- Review Regularly: Regularly review your notes and materials to reinforce what you’ve learned and keep information fresh in your mind.
- Stay Motivated: Set personal goals and reward yourself for achieving them. Keeping your long-term goals in mind can help maintain motivation and focus.
