Boys Soccer Recap
On Thursday, September 22nd 2016, the Junction City Boys Soccer team fought for a close win with a 1-0 victory over Highland Park. The defense prevailed throughout the game while the offense kept the ball on the opponent’s side for most of the game.
The first half was all Blue Jays within ball control, time of possession, and defensively sound. The Blue Jays scored the only goal of the game on penalty kick from Ford Harter. “I don’t think we played our pace tonight, tonight’s game wasn’t so much about technical skill it was just we were more athletic than them.” said Harter. Blue Jays goalie Dakota Schreiner pitched his first career shutout as a goalie.
On Monday, September 26th, 2016 The Blue Jays lost to Washburn Rural 9-0 but it’s okay because in the previous years the soccer team has been mercy ruled. The boys continued to fight throughout the game no matter what the score was.
On Tuesday, September 27th, 2016 The Blue Jays lost a close one to Hays 5-3. The Jays fought from behind the whole game but just didn’t have enough time to finish the comeback.
The Jays have a week off until their next game which will be October 5th, 2016 against St. Mary’s Academy @ Al Simpler Stadium
