New High School in Progress

August 2021 is the target date for the new Junction City High School to be open, according to the JC Post. School board member Jim Schmidt informed city and county commissioners that, “40% of the asphalt has been put in place, nearly 80% of the foundations, a lot of block has been placed on site and a lot of steel is going up.” JC Post also mentions that as soon as next week, cranes will be in use for the school and that construction is moving right along as scheduled and is currently on time.

Around the school, extra funding has been put in place to allow for street improvements, including a traffic roundabout on K-18 Highway along with wider, longer, and safer sidewalk paths that extend out to the west end of town right up to the new high school.
