JCHS girls and boys wrestling team

ling is a sport

Junction City High School wrestling performed in a tournament over the weekend.  The wrestling team beat two high schools: Hays High School and a ranked Wichita West High School. Unfortunately the Junction City Blue Jays lost to Mulvane High School who were tournament champions, and the Jays lost to a ranked Campus High School who took 2nd place. There was a very close dual. The wrestling team lost on a tie-breaker criteria number of matches and won in the dual. There were some difficult times with returners having a new coach, a philosophy, and a way of wrestling. However, the Junction City High School team is adapting very well and is getting better every time. One thing everyone should know is to never stop, never give up, keep moving and believe you’re going to keep improving.

Boys JV wrestling team were in Salina to go against the Cougars at Salina South High School. The boys wrestled sixteen wrestlers and both teams tied in first place. By watching the boys wrestle, the coaches noticed their improvements and they’re all excited to see how the boys are going to do in the future. It’s so amazing to know that the boys JV are improving.

JCHS girls varsity won the wrestling tournament for the first time ever! There were six Lady Jays sent out to compete against McPherson High School. Aislynn Bailey won DNP, Brooke Swango won fifth place, Zahirah Tanaka won second place, while Savannah Green, Lyah Duenas, and Elisa Robinson won first place.

Next up, the boys varsity are heading to Colby, Kansas for a two day dual tournament against teams from Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska.
