The Lady Jays soccer team battled through the drizzling rain to win their second game of the season against Wichita West on their home field. They defeated the Pioneers 3-2 in a double-overtime win.

Senior Maja Bellika led the team in goals with her first goal coming in the second half and her game-winning goal in double overtime.

“It was amazing, there was a tie at the end so it was nice winning in overtime,” Bellika said.

The win over Wichita West gives them a boost of confidence as they continue the season.

“We see what we’re able to do. We just need to keep playing like that, but even better, against teams in the Centennial League,” said senior Tamika Allen.

The next soccer game will be Monday, April 1 against Wichita Southeast at home.
