The return of spring sports brings back memorable athletes. Javontez “Tez” Brime is a senior returning for his final season of track. The previous season entailed some notable achievements. Last year, Brime attended state alongside the 4×100 relay team which also included alumni Ian Sanchez, Izayiah Moore, and sophomore David Giddens.

Tez also competes in all hurdle events and is expected to take the torch from alumni Jamarcus Plato who placed 3rd in both the 110 meter high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.

Great things are to come for Javontez so we decided to ask him a few questions about his final Track season as a Blue Jay.

What has been your highlight from previous seasons

“Last season, Definitely, placing second at state in the 4×100 relay and breaking the school record.”

What are you hoping to accomplish this season

“I’m hoping to accomplish more individual events placing in 110 and 300 hurdles and placing at state in the 4×100”

What are some personal goals you’ve set for yourself?

“Break 15 flat in the 110 and drop below 40 in the 300 hurdles”

What are some steps in practice you have taken in preparation for your goals?

“Adjusted my diet, been eating more healthy, drinking a lot of water, ran over the offseason and prepared my body for the season ahead.”

What’s your favorite event?

“Probably the 4×100, I like track but I like having a team to back me up and the 4×100 gives me the chance since track is mainly an individual sport.
