The Indians Dominate the Blue Jays

The boys’ basketball team travelled to Manhattan High School to play the Indians in the first round of the playoffs yesterday. The Blue Jays fell to the Indians 52-22 in a brutal four quarters of basketball.

From the beginning of the game, the Indians were on fire. They seemed to score with ease against the struggling Blue Jays. The younger and less experienced Blue Jays really did not gather any sort of momentum. They struggled with stopping the Manhattan offense and could not score much either.

“Everything went wrong. The people who came to the game realized we weren’t ourselves from Friday,” senior guard Lonnie Autry said. The crowd was lackluster in spirit and attendance for the away team, while the Indians side was in full effect.

On the bright side of things, the underclassmen of this year’s team seem to stand a better chance against Manhattan and other teams in the next few years. The foundation has been set, and they now know what is expected from the new head coach.

“My younger guys will be ready for games like that. Next year and for many years to come, Junction City is going to own and dominate Manhattan,” continued Autry.

The Blue Jays ended the season with a 4-17 record, only 1-12 in district play. With a new head coach, and a lot of transitioning to go through, the team had a lot to learn and change. However, the future is bright for the organization. With a handful of talented young players, and an enthusiastic head coach, they are hoping to make a better run next year.
