10 Jobs You Didn’t Know Exist

Being a Chocolate Tester is an interesting job you wouldn’t expect.

Breah Turner, Staff Writer

You don’t have to take on a basic, boring job. On top of that, bakers, artists, and actors aren’t the only interesting careers out there. There are actually some super intriguing jobs hidden in career fields. If office jobs and tiny cubicles don’t float your boat, then these jobs are sure to spark some new ideas in your interests.

  1. Parachute Tester
  • Believe it or not, parachute testers are actually real. As terrifying as that is, someone has to be the one to do it. It’s as straight up as it sounds; you strap on the parachute, jump out of an airplane or helicopter, and hope that the device is as good as the company intended it to be.

  1. Movie Reviewer
  • How often do you spend your time watching movies or TV shows? Some people out there will payyou to watch their films. Essentially, you sit and watch through a whole movie or episode to ensure that there aren’t any errors in the film. You’re even provided with free popcorn and drinks!

  1. Nail Polish Labeler
  • Those ridiculous, irrelevant names of nail polish colors come from somewhere – or someone. If you have a creative mind, becoming a nail polish labeler might not be that bad of an option.

  1. Spot Holder
  • Sometimes standing in line for a long amount of time is extremely tiring – especially if you’re an impatient person. In Japan, there are actually people you can hire to hold your place in a line. Or, if you really want, you can pay them to just hold a spot in line to mess with people.

  1. Professional Sleeper
  • Scientists perform studies on how the brain works during the sleeping cycle and patterns that occur then, too. They need test subjects that are willing to sleep for long periods of time, so you are basically paid to sleep all day long.

  1. Chocolate Taste-Tester
  • Chocolate companies such as Cadbury and Oreo are hiring people to professionally taste their chocolate. Chocoholics have the opportunity to taste chocolate for imperfections and give input on how to improve it.

  1. Hand Model
  • Jewelry, gloves, and nail polish are advertised pretty often within the media. There are job opportunities that hire people specifically for their hands to model their items. If you want to get a head start to modeling but aren’t ready to put your whole self out there yet, hand modeling could really benefit you.

  1. Faux Bridesmaids
  • Having close best-friends is cool, but having imposter best-friends is even cooler – or at least an option if you’re lacking in the friend department. A bride’s wedding day is one of her most special and important days she’ll have, and she shouldn’t have to spend it alone. Thankfully, thanks to companies that offer fake bridesmaids, you won’t have to. Even if you are lonely.

  1. Fortune Cookie Writers
  • It’s always fun to crack open those cookies and read your fortune after a good meal. People really do take the time to write all of those fortunes out, and you could be one of them too if it’s something you’re passionate about.

  1. Golf Ball Finders
  • When playing golf, at least one golf ball is bound to find its way into a pool of water. Due to the harmful chemicals in those waters around golf courses, people are required to gear up before diving in and searching for golf balls. Golf isn’t the only interesting activity; golf ball finding is just as intriguing.
