Baseball Update

On Friday, April 21, the Blue Jays Baseball participated in United Service Organization night. The USO on Fort Riley offers programs to keep service members connected to the people, places, and things they love. The Blue Jays had special uniforms that supported the USO. Their proceeds from the game also went to the USO. The Blue Jays swept Topeka West winning game one 5-4 and game two 6-4.
Tim Bell started game one and pitched well through six innings and keeping the Chargers offense swinging. Pedro Vasquez pitched for one inning to help close out the win. Ty Clark pitched a complete game in game two while also getting a win. He struggled throughout the first couple innings but he found his groove towards the end of the game to help lead the Blue Jays to the win.
On Tuesday, April 25, the Blue Jays traveled to Topeka to take on Seamen Vikings in doubleheader. The games were split 1-1 with the Blue Jays losing the game 0-10 and winning game two 3-1. Thane McDaniel started game one and pitched well until the fifth inning when Seamen put up 4 runs in the fifth inning. Charlie Peyla started game two and pitched well keeping the Vikings with only run through seven innings.
The Blue Jays are currently sitting at 8-6 on the season with hopes of closing out the season strong. Senior Night is Friday, April 28, against Washburn Rural.
