Deadpool Review: Not Your Typical Comic Book Movie
February 25, 2016
Deadpool is the first comic book movie of 2016 and has shattered its expectations. Opening weekend projections for Deadpool were fifty five million dollars but Deadpool’s opening weekend sales were 132.5 million dollars. Deadpool’s sales are set to reach the highest grossing rated R movie all time.
As a person who has seen Deadpool I have plenty of feedback for the movie such as the action of the movie, the hilarious dialogue of Deadpool, and the rating of the movie.
As a comic book movie Deadpool has plenty of action from the opening scene to the big fight scene at the end. Deadpool’s backstory is that he was part of a Special Forces team that kills people for a living until he was done with the military. Deadpool is a very skilled person but he considers himself more as a hitman instead of an assassin or super hero. Deadpool is an anti-villain which means his actions aren’t for the greater good but he does not intentionally cause crime purpose.
Deadpool is very sarcastic and never shuts his mouth. Deadpool’s witty jokes are what keep the movie fun and light instead of the movie relying on strictly action and plot such as other comic book movies. Deadpool has a great plot because it shows the viewers how Deadpool has become the anti-villain he is now and tells the great backstory. The jokes throughout the movie keep the movie light and keeps the viewers entertained with more than just action.
The rating of Deadpool is R and that’s what all the controversy is over because people weren’t expecting the graphic content of Deadpool. There have been cases where parents brought their child into the movie and were angry with the content. This is an instance where people looked at the rating as a joke and didn’t take it seriously until they saw it for themselves.
Deadpool is very graphic from the language, action, and sexual content so be careful with who you take and don’t expect your regular comic book movie. Deadpool has an after credits scene that hints at another movie and other things regarding Deadpool in movies.
If you are into just plain action movies or comic books than you should go see Deadpool if you are the appropriate age because of the graphic violence, sexual content, and language.
