JCHS Bowling Update

On February 4th The Junction City Bowling Team won first at their home tournament.

On January 28, 2016 the Junction City Bowling team had their first home meet. There were four high schools that came to the meet such as Seaman High School, Sacred Heart High School, Manhattan High School, and Junction City High School.

The Girls Varsity bowling team won first place in this bowling tournament. Taylar Smith, sophomore, placed second out of all the girls. “I bowled well, but the team bowled great. We bowled the best we could and that’s why the end resulted the way it did,” Smith said “We adjusted as best we could to the conditions such as oil patterns, injuries, fatigue,   The girls bowling has bowled well this season but this tournament was their first win as a team.

The girls bowling is just as good as the boys are in their respected groups. The girls bowling team in one of the top in the state. Kaylee Stutz, senior, said “The two teams have been the best they have ever been since I have been here. I am confident we have a good chance at making it to state again,” She is talking about the boys’ varsity and girls’ varsity team being the best since her high school career started. Last

The Boys Varsity bowling team took 3rd place at the tournament behind Sacred Heart who took Second and Seaman who took first. “Seaman bowled really well, we should have done better. “Said Tyler Gromlovits, sophomore. None of the boys placed individually at this tournament.

On February 2nd, 2016 the Bowling team bowled at Topeka West. Atchison and Seamen went to the tournament so a total of four teams were at this tournament. Varsity Girls took 1st place with the highest team score this season with a 2321. All top five individuals that placed were athletes from Junction. Sam Goudey, senior, led the bowlers with a total series score of 590.

The Varsity Boys team took 1st place at the tournament. The boys finished with a score of 2858 which is the highest score of the season and highest in the state. Tyler Gromlovits bowled a 299 which is almost a perfect game in bowling. Will Wriston, senior, had the highest series score with a 767.

On February 4th, 2016 Junction City hosted another bowling tournament at Junction City Bowl at 3 pm. Hayden and Manhattan attended this triangular. Varsity Girls took first place as well as Varsity Boys.  All top 3 individual spots were taken by JC boys. Varsity girls had one girl place in 3rd place. JV Boys and Girl both took first place at this tournament, it was a blue jay sweep.
