Girls Basketball Mid-Season Tournament

Junction City HIgh School Girls Basketball Team, traveled to emporia yesterday to compete in a mid-season tournament. Senior, Kealee Reins said that “ there’s going to be really good teams and really bad teams. So hopefully it gives is somewhat of a challenge and great teams to play against”. Thursday, January 29th the girls played their first round of the tournament against Leavenworth. With a slow start to in the half only scoring 12 points, unfortunately the girls could not put up enough points against the pioneers. Resulting in loss with a score of 51-28.
Senior Akia fain says that their game yesterday lacked “ movement, enthusiasm, and communication. We came out with a lot of nerves and we can’t do that because it affects the way we play.” With a very young team, the seniors hope to lead their team to success by helping the younger players step up and play the varsity role.”
The girls basketball ball team hasn’t had the greatest of a season with an overall record of 0-11. According to Fain the team has a goal to “pull through and put up more points than they did yesterday for a hopeful win”.
