JCHS Orchestra Collaborates with Manhattan
November 3, 2015
The Junction City Chamber orchestra performed a collaborative concert with the Manhattan High School Chamber Orchestra on Thursday October 29th at Junction City Middle School.
The purpose of this collaborative concert is to expose students to other musicians and unique collaborative experiences.
“We usually tour elementary schools, attend contests and festivals, and perform in the community,” Mr. Bernard Stevens , JCHS Orchestra director, said. “But we rarely get to collaborate with another school and director.”
One of the selections that the orchestras collaborated on was a piece called “October.”
The piece required more players than MHS has in their orchestra By combining both orchestras they were able to perform more successfully than either group could alone.
The JCHS orchestra will perform their holiday concert at 7pm at the Freshman Success Academy on Thursday December 10th .
