Gay, Straight Alliance Promotes Acceptance
January 23, 2015
The Gay, Straight Alliance (GSA) is for the people, who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, to come together in a safe place. It is also a learning environment for those people who want to learn more. GSA also advocates for the people in the school to stop anti-homosexual bullying and promotes acceptance of the gay community.
President Christina Brunton said that she was always interested in advocating for the Gay, Straight Alliance. Kim Robinson, Vice-president, was interested in this group because she felt that with the club’s help she could make a difference.
“Anybody who’s opened minded should join,” said Kim Robinson.
Chace Carter, a member of GSA, joined the club because at the time she was dating her girlfriend and the club helped Chace became stronger and made her feel safe and not alone. No one judged them or looked at her differently and they treated her like the person she is. She likes the club because they make you feel like family even when you don’t participate in all the GSA meetings.
“Anyone out there, gay, straight, you should join the club. Anyone that wants to help or ‘come out’ should join because this club will take you into their family.” said Chace Carter.
