JCHS Activity Fair- Clubs, Organizations, and New Opportunies!
August 29, 2014
Fellow Blue Jay’s, now that our second full week is over now everyone is getting accustomed to the new school year and hopefully checked out the activity fair. Our Activity Fair officially started on this past Tuesday the 26th and will be ending today Friday the 29th at the CAC. For our newest students or some upperclassmen who just forgot –yes I did not forget you too–our Activity Fair is where all the clubs, and organizations are held. We have a little bit for everyone on these day’s students can go and explore our 20 plus activities!
Now some of you might be still wondering: “why should I even bother?” or maybe “I’m just tired after I get home why should I stay at school longer“? or does this ring a bell “I’m easily bored after I’m done with my homework and I literally have nothing to do with my life at the moment so…”
Let me give you some answers and relief! First, just come and become a member of a club at the activity fair it really is your last chance (If you’re at the CAC). While Second, you really only benefits you will gain from joining! Becoming a member of a club helps you get the spirit of being a Junction City High School Blue Jay and your involvement in a club is a great way to get more involved with the school and meet people who share your same passions or curiosity! If my enthusiasm has not intrigued you by now then maybe some of comments from our faculty will help!
“The Activity Fair is all about having the opportunity to give back and be part an involvement in JCHS. While being a member is great it is also a graduation recommendation to be apart of a club or organization so it is very important. Even as a student you can have a voice and make change in your school as well. If you have concerns or want to make possible proposals to the student council you can drop these comments in the mailbox located in the office. You can even come and attend these meetings starting in September and falls every third Wednesday of the month!

“Students who join clubs or are involved with extracurricular activities are able to enjoy school and focus in activity besides academics. If you’re involved in choir, sports, or just an activity you have always loved it brings life to your school, and when you look back on your High School experience you will not have regrets. Clubs do helps even with academics and taking pride in your school will definitely help strive to better yourself in classes!”

“It is important for students to have ownership and responsibility to get to know students outside of class as well as get to know your school building. There is a chance to get to know the staff and advisors and being involved in positive activity reflection on school and district! And as for seniors and underclassman, it’s good on resumes! Involvement and sharing interests create lifelong relationships and careers!”

Assistant Principal and Activities Director
“The Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA is a club and an advocacy group which is established for LGBT+ youth so that they have space from harassment or judgement . Aside from me being in GSA I’m also a part of the Senior Committee that works with our elected officers to plan Project Graduation and raise money. Being involved in clubs has given me memories that will always be with me and the chance to meet people and have experiences I would not have otherwise. Students when looking for a club don’t stop at things that just interest you. School gives you the opportunity to explore different avenues so try everything.
Christina Brunton, Senior
President of GSA
So, what do you think?! If you are at the CAC our activity ends today. But, if you are at the FSA starting September 2nd and 4th the cafeteria if you want to join a club or organization. I hope you all will go to the fair and make memories and experiences for yourself that will give you the opportunity to have people be apart of your life beyond High School years. As we get older and move on as adults the experiences you have of your High School can only benefit you when you’re involved with your school!
