Lady Jays Volleyball Spikes The Competition In Home Opener

The Lady Jays Volleyball team started their season with an impressive debut at home. They won the tournament with a record of 2-1 beating Highland Park and Topeka West and losing their final game to Hayden. With this meet being their only home meet the crowd was electric and came ready to cheer on their Lady Jays.

With such an experienced group of girls, this season should be exciting to watch and a team to keep an eye on. The team won their first game against Highland Park and it didn’t stop there. With very high energy on and off the court came another win.

The second game was against Topeka West and was just as exciting as the first. The Lady Jays won the first set 25-26 and the second set 25-13 sweeping Topeka West.

“The girl’s energy level, we started off really low and then they just built on it and built on it.” Coach Booth. She appreciated how aggressive the girls stayed throughout the meet.

The final game of the night was the girls toughest test this season. They played Hayden and lost the first set 25-17 and the second set 25-18.

Even though the girls lost both sets they never gave up after each point was scored against them, the girls were always looking for a rally and continued to play hard until the final buzzer.

“I think today went very well, we have been preparing for about two weeks and we have many more to go until we are at our best, but we competed with Hayden and we didn’t give up.” Senior Chloe Thomas said.

Each senior played hard, kept the game close and used the electric crowd in their favor the whole night.

Now the Lady Jays will be on the road for the rest of the year but don’t expect them to let that affect them, this group of ladies will fight until the end and use the energy from the team to keep them going.
