On Wednesday, August 24th, 2016 the boys’ soccer team had their annual Blue/White scrimmage. The Blue team won the scrimmage with a score of 4-0.

There is a total of 11 seniors on the soccer team. Key seniors to watch are Jimmy Lechuga, Adam Campbell, and Ford Harter who are the team captains. The varsity team will have very high chemistry with all senior experience. Four freshmen will be suiting up on the varsity team this year. They are Liam Post, Christopher Lechuga-Palacios, Thomas Green, and Jaime Vargas.

Experience will be a strength this year coming from the 11 seniors and the five juniors. “This is the hardest working class I have seen, whether it’s staying longer after practice, going to the gym after practice or having team gatherings,” Coach Proctor said.

Coach Proctor stated that this team has the most natural talent he has seen since he has been here at Junction City High School. The boys are mentally tough and never think that they are really down in the game, they are always pushing until the end he said.

Some of the team goals for this season are to win more than seven games and set a new school record for the number of wins in a single season.  Additionally, they hope to not give up as many goals as last season because it was very demoralizing to the team stated Coach Proctor. As a team, they would like to move up in league play and win more league games so they can move out of the bottom three in the league. The team has been in bottom three of league play since 2010.

The boy’s soccer team’s first game will August 30th, 2016 at 6:15 p.m. at Al Simpler Stadium. The game will be against Emporia High School.
