Sopes are a Mexican dish, originated from central and southern parts of Mexico. Usually used as appetizers and with less than 10 ingredients, this is by far the easiest recipe to remember. And if there is something you don’t like, simply throw it out and replace it with something you do, there is no right or wrong way to end this dish.
Ingredients:
Maseca or any other corn flour
Salt
Pepper
Adobo
1 lb of ground beef
½ an onion
2 tomatoes
toppings of your choice – toppings used were Crema Hondurena (Daisy sour cream), queso Olancho (cheese) and shredded lettuce
Preparing the Tortillas:
Mix maseca with water to get dough consistency, should be easy to mold with hands.
Roll pieces of dough into a golf ball size between the palm of hands.
Pat flat until you have a patty of dough about ¼ inch thick
Pinch the sides to form a small bowl to hold meat
Spray griddle with vegetable oil then place tortillas and let them cook
Continue steps until you have reached your desired amount.
Preparing ground beef:
Dice onion and tomatoes
Place ground beef in pan
Separate the ground beef in the pan and let it sit for it to cook and brown up
Add salt, pepper, and adobo
Once meat is thoroughly cooked, add onion and tomato
Preparing to serve:
Place beef in tortilla bowl
Place lettuce on beef
Finish off with placing toppings
